Restoration Effort

III. Funding

From its founding in 1997 through September 2008, the Friends have raised just over $1 million toward the cost of restoring Peirce Mill. Of this amount, $824,600 came from foundation grants and contributions from companies, individuals, and neighborhood associations. The District of Columbia government made a grant of $100,000, and the National Park Service contributed $41,000. In-kind donations accounted for an additional $35,000. A full list of our supporters appears on the "Our Donors" page of this website.

The current estimate of the total cost of the project is $1,450,000, leaving a funding gap of $450,000 to be filled by the expected completion date of May/June 2010. Recently appropriated Federal funds for Peirce Mill and surrounding areas are expected to make up a portion of this shortfall.
