Restoration Effort
Images from May 2010

Moving the Millstones
These pictures show the six millstones being moved to the new millstone floor on May 18. First the stones had to be moved to the east side of the main floor, which required the scaffolding supporting the extra weight to be moved in stages from the west to the east side at the basement level. Then a ramp up to the millstone floor was built, and the stones moved up the ramp on a pallet jack. Now that the main floor is clear of stones, the final repair work to the joists and floorboards can be carried out.
